Culturazzi is looking for serious, talented writers, who have a strong interest in arts (especially literature, music, art, photography, lifestyle and theater) and wish to be a part of this movement. If you have what it takes to be one of us, and wish to show off your refined tastes in any of the aforementioned fields (or others we may have omitted that you think should be a part of it), get in touch with us.

If you are creative in other ways, you can also consider joining the Culturazzi Design and Marketing team,  where you shall be involved in promotion of the idea that we call Culturazzi. Moreover, you can take up offline activities like organizing book-reading, film watching, reading clubs in your respective cities.

Of course, fame (perhaps) is the only way we can compensate for your work - We are currently a not-for-profit organization. In future, who knows!

Prior to that, kindly read the Culturazzi Manifesto below:

The Culturazzi Manifesto

Being an editor is fairly straightforward. You can contribute in many ways:

  • You can either write reviews on any aspect of culture (cinema, art, photography, literature, music, theater etc). Although there is no strict word limit, we recommend you to keep it under 800 words.
  • You can write articles or synopsis (on writers, authors, movies, bands, events, news, or any artists) under 1000 words.
  • If you are a photographer or an artist, you can showcase your work (with watermarks so that they cannot be plagiarized, or reproduced). Please attach the relevant information and contact in your post so people can get in touch with you regarding buying or seeing your work.
  • You can also post your interviews with key industry people or celebrities who are making a difference in any of the related fields. In this case you shall be the correspondent and the article shall bear your name.
  • You can also post news related to culture, as long as it is not a reproduction of a paper article. It can be your own interpretation (a la editor’s column) of the news story.
  • Citizen journalists are welcome to post news items in the “news” category. The post should be related to the fields of culture, art, social work, et al. You can also submit images or photos for the same. The “rule of three [posts per month]” is not applicable to guest writers.

Commandments

  1. Thou shalt not post your review, article or news item anywhere else on the net. Each post shall be unique and original in terms of content. You may however publish excerpts (less than 50 words) on your personal blog/site with the link to the main article on culturazzi site.
  2. Thou shalt carefully choose what you wish to write about - Try to choose subjects that are fairly unknown, original, or have a great artistic appeal **. Culturazzi is to disseminate new information, and present views, not to discuss things spoken about everywhere - there are many sites/blogs for that. However, you can write pieces on ground-breaking/cult movies, books, international music etc. Some examples would be Pulp Fiction, Gipsy Kings, Taare Zameen Par, Blade Runner, Paco da Lucia etc. The simple rule of thumb is – it should be distinct in atleast one aspect like theme, style, cinematography, subject, characters, et al. For literature, simply remember that all books are equal, but some are more equal than others (especially Bookers, classics, Whitbreads, Pulitzers, Nobels, etc).
  3. Thou shalt submit atleast three reviews/articles/interviews every month (each of them counts as a single piece). You can submit as many, but since we wish to give each article prominence and visibility, we recommend you submit at most seven/month.
  4. Thou shalt not print any inflammatory content that may hurt the sentiments of any readers. Be objective, but be sensitive to the opinions of others. Culturazzi takes no responsibility for your views and opinions, and any post that receives complaints may be removed at the editorial team’s discretion.

** For music and literature, we have decided to be more inclusive to include all genres of music (rock, jazz, electronica, blues) and books (autobiographies, graphic novels), although the authority to accept or reject any post remains with the editors. The topic needs to be chosen carefully.

Process

Initially you shall be a contributor and your posts shall go through a review process by the editorial team for quality and duplication check. Please note that your posts should not be on any movie, book, play, album (or others as applicable) that has already been written about. If you think something has been missed in a certain review, add your synopsis in the remarks section. The author may incorporate it into the post (subject to your approval).

Posts are queued in the order in which they are received, and depending on the reader interest, they shall be featured on the main page for certain time. Your posts may take time to appear, but they will provided they have been accepted. Please note that all submissions are not accepted - it depends on the whims of our editors whether an article should be published or not :). Just kidding! We do a strict quality check on the content and writing style, so it should atleast meet the editors’ expectations.

You can send in your reviews at info@culturazzi.org. Once you have submitted five reviews/articles, your role shall be upgraded to that of an author, and you can submit them at your own discretion. Some of you may be invited to join the editorial team as well.

Kindly send us your contact details prior to sending the review/article, so an account can be created for you.
